Rev. Anne Cubbage
Senior Pastor | At BCC since January 2017
A desert rat through and through, Anne grew up in sunny Arizona and received her Bachelors degree in Secondary Education from the University of Arizona. After five years in the classroom, she pursued a Masters from Texas Tech University. After several more years in the classroom and on the ball courts, she completed her Master of Divinity at Perkins School of Theology (SMU) before being ordained.
Anne’s first church was in Elkhart, IN where she participated on community boards, co-directed a summer camp, and created an ecumenical youth group. She discovered an appetite for Bible study. Her passion for the outdoors and Christian action coalesced into summer outdoor worship services, Fifth Sunday service projects, and an ecumenical Thanksgiving service. Her most recent pastorate was on idyllic Cape Cod. While there she helped celebrate the church’s 375th anniversary and was able to spend much time exploring our nation’s history, kayaking into the salt marshes, and hiking into the woods.
Anne has great hopes that Broadmoor Community Church, UCC will continue to expand its understanding of God’s grace and will reach ever further into its community. One of Anne’s goals, during her free time, is to pump up her bicycle tires and spend some time on the open road exploring the beautiful environs of Colorado and discovering some really good Mexican food.
Rev. Lynn Hurst
Minister of Music | At BCC since 2004
A southern belle, Lynn grew up in southern Arkansas and received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Oklahoma, then a Master of Church Music from the Scarritt Graduate School in Nashville, Tennessee. She completed seminary work at Vanderbilt before being ordained as a United Methodist minister. Lynn is an imaginative and gifted musician and author. Her books ‘Changing Your Tune: A Musician’s Handbook for Creating Contemporary Worship’ and ‘Praise Now!’ are published by Abingdon Press and she was a contributing author of ‘Church Music for Children’ and ‘52 Children’s Choir Activities’. The resurgence of BCC’s music program and its continued growth is the result of Lynn’s creativity, enthusiasm and abounding energy. Lynn helps people of all ages discover God’s gift of music. Her innovative Music Intern program is just one example of her success. Lynn’s husband, Jerry, is also ordained and serves as Minister of Adults and Worship at First United Methodist Church. They have two children – a daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren in Colorado Springs and a son in Loveland. One of Lynn’s favorite pastimes is shopping for clothes with her granddaughter. She loves watching the Sci-Fi channel and is an avid Rockies fan. Healthy eating has recently become important to Lynn but the truth is that she secretly survives on chocolate truffles. If Lynn ever retires, she plans to travel the world.
